From RD Station to Postal, without reactivating those who left
RD Station Marketing combines email, automation, lead capture and lead scoring. Your leads, fields, emails and flows move to Postal. Landing pages, pop-ups, Lead Scoring, WhatsApp and SMS have no counterpart. This guide shows what migrates, what you rebuild and what stays behind.

Overview
What comes along and what you redo
Leads come in a CSV file. You rebuild the rest in Postal, with this guide alongside. Nothing happens on its own: you export, check and import. Whatever RD Station does beyond email has no counterpart in Postal.
Comes as a file
Leads with their standard and custom fields, tags, and which ones are inactive. The file comes from the Lead Base, and exporting through the API does not cover the whole base.
You rebuild in Postal
Emails (the HTML, if you have it), segmentations, automation flows, forms, webhooks and API calls. This guide tells you where each thing goes.
Stays in RD Station
Landing pages, pop-ups, Lead Scoring, WhatsApp, SMS, social media, the conversion history and the reports. Download whatever you want to keep before closing the account.
Equivalence
The same concepts, other names
RD Station Marketing combines email, automation, lead capture and lead scoring. Postal takes care of email: contacts, campaigns, automations, forms and webhooks. Use this table as a dictionary.
| In RD Station | On Postal | How it works on Postal |
|---|---|---|
| Lead (Lead Base) | Contact (Audience) | Each email address appears once per team. A contact has an address, first name, last name, external ID, tags and properties. |
Standard and custom fields (cf_) | Properties | Typed fields: text, number, yes/no or date. Up to 100 per team. You create the property before using it. |
| Tags | Tags | Mark contacts without needing a segment. Useful in filters and automations. |
| Segmentation (segmentation list) | Segments | Static (a list built by hand or by import) or dynamic (by filters, updated automatically, depending on the plan). |
| Inactive lead (unsubscribe, bounce, spam) | Unsubscribed or suppression list | An unsubscribed contact receives no campaigns or automations. With suppression, the address is removed from all sending and never becomes a contact. |
Legal bases (legal_bases) | No dedicated field | Store the source and the date of consent in properties. A form with a consent field records the date and the IP. |
| Conversion (form, landing page, pop-up or API) | Form submission or event | The Postal form triggers form.submitted; your system sends events through POST /events. |
| Campaign emails | Campaigns | Sending to a segment, and, if you want, only to those subscribed to a topic. |
| Email templates | Templates | Visual editor or HTML. |
| Automation flows | Automations | A trigger and steps: wait, send email, condition, change the contact and call a webhook. |
| Forms | Forms | A ready-made page or one on your site, with email confirmation (double opt-in). |
| Webhook Service | Webhooks | One endpoint per URL, with the events you choose and a signature on each delivery. |
| API 2.0 (OAuth 2.0) | REST API | ps_… key in the Authorization header, with no token renewal. |
| RD Station CRM | CRM connection | Ready-made connection with RD Station CRM, by token. See the segmentations and funnel step. |
| Landing pages, pop-ups, Lead Scoring, WhatsApp, SMS and social media | No equivalent | See the table in the last step. |
Take inventory in RD Station
Before changing anything, list what your account uses. Each item has a place in Postal, or does not, and it is better to find that out now. Do not close RD Station yet: you will need it until the very end.
| In RD Station | What to note | Where it lives on Postal |
|---|---|---|
| Lead Base and segmentations | How many active and inactive leads, and which segmentations are used in sends and flows | Audience |
| Custom fields | The name and type of each field that still matters | Properties |
| Tags | The ones used in filters and flows | Tags |
| Emails and templates | The ones still in use, and whether you keep the original HTML | Templates and Campaigns |
| Automation flows | Entry, conditions, actions and exit of each active flow | Automations |
| Forms, pop-ups and landing pages | Which pages each one is installed on | Forms (pop-ups and landing pages: no equivalent) |
| Lead Scoring, funnel and opportunities | The scoring rules, the stages and who receives the opportunities | Properties, segments and the RD Station CRM connection |
| API 2.0, webhooks and integrations | Who calls the API, who receives the webhooks and what comes from the app store | API keys, Webhooks and CRM connections |
| Sending domain | The DNS records RD Station asked for | Domains |
- Whoever exports needs access to the Lead Base and to the RD Station account. Whoever looks after the website or DNS will need to publish records (next step) and swap the forms' code.
- Create your Postal account. The plan's contact limit is on Pricing: Free has 1,000 contacts, Pro 5,000 and Scale 50,000. Check in your RD Station account what your plan's limit is and how many leads the base has.
Verify the sending domain in Postal
Under Domains, Postal shows a few records for whoever manages DNS to copy, and checks them on its own for up to 72 hours. The domain can stay authenticated in RD Station at the same time.
| In RD Station (according to its help) | On Postal | |
|---|---|---|
| Records requested | Three for DKIM, one for SPF and one for DMARC, almost always CNAME or TXT. The type is shown on the RD Station screen | Three: DKIM (TXT at postal._domainkey), Return-Path (MX at postal) and SPF (TXT at postal) |
| SPF | An RD Station include (include:_spf.rdstation.com.br) in the SPF record the domain already has | Lives on the postal subdomain, and the SPF of the main domain does not change |
| DMARC | A record that RD Station asks for | Optional. There can be only one _dmarc record per domain: keep yours |
| When it applies | Propagation can take up to 48 hours | Postal checks on its own for up to 72 hours, showing the status of each record |
- Prefer a subdomain just for marketing, like
news.exemplo.com.br. That way, whatever happens with your campaigns does not affect your system's emails. - The names of RD Station's DKIM records are not in the help pages we consulted. Copy them from your account screen and check whether any is equal to
postal._domainkeybefore publishing. - Do not delete the RD Station records while any email is still going out through it. Old forms and flows keep sending until you turn them off.
- Turn on open and click tracking on the domain if your reports and flows depend on it. Postal notifies you through the
domain.updatedwebhook when the domain becomesverified. See Domains and DNS.
Export the leads from RD Station
The complete route is the CSV from the Lead Base. Open the Lead Base, choose the whole base or one segmentation, and use the list actions to export. You tick the fields, standard and custom, and enter the email address that will receive the file.
- RD Station's help describes two formats: the CSV adapted for Excel (fields separated by tabs) and the standard CSV (comma-separated). Postal detects commas, semicolons and tabs, and reads files in UTF-8 and Windows-1252: either one works.
- The file arrives by email, and a large base takes longer. Each row is a lead. Menu names have changed over time: if you cannot find it, search for “export” in the Lead Base.
- Export the whole base once and, after that, each segmentation you want to keep as a segment. The conversions export is a different one and brings one row per conversion: Postal does not import history, but keep that file.
- API 2.0 does not replace the CSV. It looks up one contact at a time (by
uuid, email or phone) and returns the contacts of a segmentation with onlyuuid, name, email, phone and dates. Custom fields are left out. The limit is 120 requests per minute per account on the Light, Basic and Pro plans. - The Company field does not come out through the contacts API or the segmentations API: it only appears in the body of webhooks. If it matters to you, tick it in the file.
Sort by status: consent comes first
An inactive lead in RD Station receives no campaigns or flow emails. Each reason for inactivity has a different destination in Postal. This is where you protect those who asked to leave.
Leads that receive RD Station's emails.
Import as contacts.
Clicked unsubscribe in an email and became inactive.
Import them marked as unsubscribed so Postal remembers. Never as subscribed.
Made inactive by a hard bounce, repeated soft bounces, an incorrect email address or for marking an email as spam.
Put them on the suppression list.
Someone selected “Deactivate lead” on the profile or discarded the lead.
Decide case by case. Without proof of consent, do not import as subscribed.
- According to RD Station's help, a lead becomes inactive when it unsubscribes, because of an incorrect email address, a hard bounce, repeated soft bounces (five, according to the article), by being discarded or by marking an email as spam. You can also deactivate a lead by hand, from the profile.
- In the pages we consulted, we did not find how the exported file marks inactive leads. Before importing, open the file, look for a status column and compare the total with the active leads RD Station shows. If you cannot separate them, do not import as subscribed anyone you cannot prove is active.
- Unsubscribed: in their file, add an Unsubscribed column filled with
simon every row and point that column to the Unsubscribed (yes/no) field during import. For the active ones, do not map the column: for someone already in Postal, the file's value wins, and a “no” would reactivate someone who already left. - Suppressed: during import, Postal ignores addresses that are on the suppression list. To suppress a large list, use the API (
POST /suppressions/batch/add, 100 at a time) with help from whoever looks after your system; in the dashboard, Suppressions accepts one address at a time. Without the API, import them as unsubscribed: they will never receive campaigns, but they take up a spot in the plan's contact limit. - Mind one difference: in RD Station, someone who unsubscribed by mistake or marked spam does not become active again just by converting on a landing page. Automatic reactivation is needed, with a confirmation email. In Postal, someone who signs up through a form receives emails again, even if they had unsubscribed before. To stay cautious, turn on double opt-in on your forms. An address on the suppression list cannot sign up.
- RD Station says it acts as a data processor and does not block sending to leads without a legal basis. You are the one responsible for the legal basis of sending, in both places. See the next step to keep the proof.
Import the leads and fields into Postal
In Audience, on the Contacts tab, click Import CSV. Choose the file, say which field each column matches and check the preview before importing. The import runs in the background and you can follow the result.
| In RD Station | On Postal | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Name (a single field) | First name and Last name | RD Station has one name field. Split the column in the spreadsheet, or map everything to First name and accept “Hello, Ana Souza” in your emails. |
| One per contact. RD Station's extra emails have no field in Postal. | ||
| Phone, personal phone and mobile | Text properties | Postal does not send SMS or WhatsApp. Store them only if your system uses them. |
| Job title, city, state, country, website, bio and social networks | Properties | Create the ones you want to keep. |
| Date of birth | Date-type property | Accepts 2026-10-28 and 28/10/2026. |
| Tags | Tags | Names separated by commas or semicolons. The ones that do not exist are created. |
Custom fields (cf_…) | Properties | Text, number, yes/no or date. Import does not create new properties: create them first, with the key you want to use. |
Funnel stage (Lead, Qualified Lead and Client in the API), opportunity and owner | Properties | They stay as stored values. Nothing updates on its own. |
Profile and interest scores (fit and interest) | Numeric properties | Only if the file includes them. It is a snapshot from the day of the export. |
| Legal bases, source and conversion date | Text and date properties | They serve to show the legal basis of the sending. |
Lead identifier (uuid) | External ID | Only if the file includes it. It helps link the contact to RD Station while both coexist. |
- The column names in your file may be different: what matters is pointing each column to the right field.
- Each segmentation you want to keep becomes a static segment: export one per file and import each one choosing the segment. Only static segments receive imported contacts. You rebuild the dynamic ones in the next step.
- If you want to separate subjects, create Topics and select the topic in Subscribe to topics. That field subscribes every contact in the file.
- Leave the Trigger automations option off. When it is on, each new contact can start automations, and a large list may receive the welcome sequence all at once.
- Contacts that already exist are updated by email. Empty cells do not erase values, and repeated emails in the file count only the first time. Each file can be up to 20 MB: split larger ones. The import stops when the plan's contact limit is reached.
- Before sending, run the list through Email validation, which flags invalid and risky addresses.
Rebuild the templates and campaigns
Emails and campaigns do not transfer on their own. What you can take along is the HTML, and the rest is built again. RD Station imports HTML (from a public address or pasted), so if your emails started out as HTML, you still have it. The ones made in the visual editor need to be redone.
| In RD Station (editor's variable picker) | On Postal | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Lead's name and first name | {{{FIRST_NAME}}} | Accepts a default value: {{{FIRST_NAME|cliente}}}. If you imported the full name into First name, the full value comes out. |
| Lead's email | {{{EMAIL}}} | |
| Company and custom fields | {{{contact.chave}}} | The property must exist. Its key is what counts. |
| Footer unsubscribe link | {{{POSTAL_UNSUBSCRIBE_URL}}} | Without the variable, Postal adds an unsubscribe footer at the end of campaigns. |
| Event data (cart, order) | {{event.chave}} | In emails from automations started by an event. |
- RD Station's blog says the variables come from the editor's picker (name, first name, email, company and custom fields), but the documentation we consulted does not show how they appear in the HTML. Look in the code for whatever is between braces or slashes and replace it with the Postal equivalent.
- In the help, we did not find a button to download the HTML of an email made in RD Station's editor. If you only have the finished email, one way out is to send a test to yourself and copy the HTML of the received message. That HTML may include tracking links and RD Station's footer: replace them with direct links and with
{{{POSTAL_UNSUBSCRIBE_URL}}}. - In Postal, under Templates, build the email in the visual editor or paste the HTML. Campaigns also accept HTML. If your images are hosted on RD Station, upload them again before closing the account.
- To redo a campaign, open Campaigns and choose the segment (and, if you want, the topic), the sender from a verified domain, the subject and the preview text. Send a test and schedule it. Only contacts in the segment who are not unsubscribed, are not on the suppression list and, if there is a topic, are subscribed to it will receive it.
- Campaigns already sent are not imported. Keep the HTML and the reports before closing the account. Templates only replace variables: conditions and lists inside the email you handle in your own system.
Redo the segmentations, funnel and scoring
Only the contacts come in the file. The segmentation rules, the scoring and the funnel stages you rebuild. In RD Station's API we did not find a way to read a segmentation's rules: it returns only the contacts.
| In RD Station | On Postal | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Segmentation by fields, tags, conversions and emails | Dynamic segment | Redo the filters: email and name, creation date, unsubscribe, validation status, property, tag, topic, segment, email activity and event. Up to 10 groups and 20 conditions. Creating dynamic segments depends on the plan; Free allows 3 segments. |
| Default segmentations, like the whole base | All contacts in the Audience | You do not need to do anything. |
| Lead Scoring: profile and interest scores | No equivalent | Build dynamic segments based on behavior: opened or clicked at least N times in the last X days (email activity), performed an event, or has a property with a certain value. |
Funnel stage (Lead, Qualified Lead and Client in the API) and opportunity | Property or tag | Create an estagio property and use automation to change it. Postal has no sales funnel on the contact. |
| RD Station CRM integration | CRM connection | See the items below the table. |
- RD Station's Lead Scoring gives two scores: profile (each field's weight times the points of the lead's answer) and interest (the sum of points for actions in emails, flows and conversions, each action counted once). According to the help, it is on the Pro and Advanced plans. Postal has no point calculation: the automations documentation only shows writing a fixed value to a property.
- If today you use the score to decide who goes to sales, replace the score with a clear rule: for example, the “hot” segment is the contacts who clicked on 3 emails in the last 30 days and have a decision-making job title.
- Postal has a ready-made connection with RD Station CRM (not with RD Station Marketing). You paste the instance token (account menu, Settings, Integrations, API Token) and create contact and deal webhooks in the CRM, with the URL that Postal shows. Deal stages become a contact property or tag and can start an automation. In the other direction, email activity goes back to the CRM as an activity on the open deal or as a note on the contact.
- Postal does not move deals in the CRM or mark opportunities. If today RD Station Marketing is what marks opportunities and hands them to the sales team, decide how that continues: a webhook step in an automation can notify your system. The number of CRM connections depends on the plan. See CRM connections.
Redo the automation flows
Flows do not transfer on their own. Open each active RD Station flow and build the equivalent in Automations. Take the chance to review what still makes sense: flows that have been idle for months do not need to come along.
| In RD Station | On Postal | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Entry: converted on an event (landing page, form, pop-up or integration) | Trigger form.submitted (Postal form) or event (sent by your system) | Landing pages and pop-ups do not exist in Postal: the conversion now comes from a form or from your code. |
| Entry: joined the segmentation list | Trigger segment.added | On a dynamic segment, it applies once per entry. Saving a segment triggers nothing for those who already match it. |
| Entry conditions AND and OR | Event trigger filters (up to 10, all must match) | For OR, build a dynamic segment with “any” and use the segment trigger, or create one automation per path. |
| Insert leads into a flow through the API | POST /events with the trigger name, or a tag or a segment | In RD Station, the limit is 10 leads per request (Light and Basic), 25 (Pro) and 50 (Advanced). |
| Action: send email | send_email step | Sends a published template. With detect_replies, Postal detects replies. |
| Action: wait, with the option to count only business days | wait step | From minutes to weeks, or until a time on certain days of the week (1 to 5 is Monday to Friday), with a time zone. |
| Paths and conditions on the lead | condition step, with Yes and No paths | Conditions by property, event, segment, topic, tag and email activity. For more paths, chain conditions. |
| Add or remove tag | update_contact step | Also changes properties, segments and topics. |
| Change the funnel stage and mark an opportunity | update_contact step | Writes a property or a tag. There is no sales funnel. |
| Send the lead to a URL (integration) | webhook step | Sends the contact and the event to your URL. |
| Send WhatsApp, SMS or smart message | No equivalent | Postal is an email platform. |
| Flow exit criteria (marked an opportunity, converted again) | No global exit criterion | The automations documentation does not describe one. Put a condition before the email and an exit step on the path of those who should already leave. |
- Postal adds the
wait_forstep (wait for the contact to open, click or reply, up to a deadline) and the A/B test (experiment, on the plans that include it). - Each contact enters once by default (
reentry: "once"). To enter on every trigger, useevery_time. Imports do not start automations unless you turn that option on. Review who would enter before activating. - RD Station's e-commerce events (checkout started, abandoned cart, order placed, paid, shipped, delivered, canceled and refunded) become events that your system sends through
POST /events, with names you choose, such asorder_paid. Postal has no ready-made integration with store platforms, so this takes a developer. - Each plan has a limit of runs per month. See Automations and the automations reference.
Rebuild your signup forms
RD Station forms keep sending people to RD Station as long as they are live. Rebuild each one in Postal and swap the address or the code on your pages.
| In RD Station | On Postal | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Form for the website (embed HTML code) | Form: ready-made page at forms.postal.so/seu-nome or submission from your site | Replace the old code with the new, page by page. |
| Fields and required fields | Blocks: email, name, text, number, date, choice, consent and others | Each block can write to a property, which must exist. There is logic between pages. |
| Action after submission (redirect, file, coupon) | redirect_url or the Postal success screen | The redirect does not work with double opt-in. To deliver a file or a coupon, send it in an automation email with the form trigger. |
| Double confirmation (double opt-in) | Double opt-in | The person confirms the email and only then joins the audience. |
| Consent field | Consent block | Records the date and the IP of the acceptance. |
| Traffic source and UTM, captured automatically | Hidden blocks | On the Postal page, the value comes from the query string (?utm_source=blog). On your site, send the values with the submission. |
| Automatic lead reactivation | Double opt-in | A form with confirmation asks the person to confirm their email. |
| Pop-ups (exit, scroll, floating bar) | No equivalent | Use your site's pop-up tool and send to the Postal form. |
| Landing pages | No equivalent | Host the page on another tool or on your site and send the signups to the Postal form. |
- Under Forms, a submission creates or updates the contact, adds it to the form's segment and subscribes it to the chosen topics. The option to validate the email rejects disposable addresses and domains that do not receive email.
- If a form lives inside an RD Station landing page or pop-up, it only stops capturing when you take the page down. Remove the old code from your site once the new one is live and tested.
- New leads keep arriving in RD Station until you swap the last form. Export again close to the switch and import: contacts that already exist are updated by email.
- Postal notifies your system of the signup through the
form.submittedwebhook. See Forms and the forms reference.
Swap the API and webhooks, if you use them
If your site, your ERP or your store talks to RD Station's API 2.0, the calls change. The design is similar: a conversion event creates or updates the contact. Below, the same signup in both formats.
POST https://api.rd.services/platform/events?event_type=conversion
Authorization: Bearer <access_token do OAuth>
Content-Type: application/json
{
"event_type": "CONVERSION",
"event_family": "CDP",

"email": "[email protected]",
"first_name": "Ana",
"last_name": "Souza"
},
"contact_properties": { "cidade": "Campinas" },
"properties": { "origem": "site" }
}| In RD Station (API 2.0) | On Postal | What changes |
|---|---|---|
OAuth 2.0: app in the app store, client_id and client_secret, code, access_token and refresh_token | API key (ps_…) in Authorization: Bearer | No token renewal. A send-only key is enough for events and emails; contacts require full access. |
Conversion event (POST /platform/events) | POST /events | A new email creates the contact. Tags do not go in the event: use POST /contacts/{id}/tags or an automation. |
available_for_mailing | unsubscribed on the contact | The opposite. Someone who unsubscribed only comes back through a form's double opt-in or with proof of the new consent in the batch. |
| Opportunity, sale, lost, chat, call and media events | Events with names you choose | The same POST /events, which start automations through the event trigger. |
Event batch (/platform/events/batch, up to 0.2 MB) | POST /events, one per event | Postal's events documentation has no batch. For contacts, there is POST /contacts/batch (up to 10,000). |
| Look up, create, update and delete a contact | GET, POST, PATCH and DELETE /contacts | By ID, by email or by external_id:<id>. On PATCH, the list of tags sent replaces the contact's tags, as in RD Station. |
| Create a tag for the lead (tags add up) | POST /contacts/{id}/tags | Also adds up. To remove one: DELETE /contacts/{id}/tags/{tag}. |
| Custom fields | POST /contact-properties | Key and type. Up to 100 per team. |
| Contacts in a segmentation | GET /contacts?segment_id=… | Also filters by tag, topic and unsubscribe. |
| Email and flow statistics | GET /emails/metrics and the stats for each campaign | See Email marketing. |
- Prefer an SDK? Postal's (Node.js, PHP and Laravel) use this same API. See SDKs and CLI and the events reference.
- Postal's request limit is per plan (Free 5 per second, Pro 10, Scale 20 and Enterprise 50). See Limits.
Recreate the webhooks
RD Station's Webhook Service sends leads, not email events. In Postal, webhooks cover emails, contacts, forms, suppressions and domains. Create the endpoint under Webhooks (dashboard or POST /webhooks) and keep the signing_secret.
| In RD Station (Webhook Service) | On Postal | Note |
|---|---|---|
WEBHOOK.CONVERTED: lead that converted, filterable by conversion | form.submitted, contact.created, and contact.updated | Contact events carry the origin of the change (source), and an endpoint can ignore origins. |
WEBHOOK.MARKED_OPPORTUNITY: lead marked as an opportunity | No event of its own | Mark a tag or a property and use the webhook step of an automation with the tag or property trigger. |
Fixed body: event_type, entity_type, event_identifier, timestamp and contact (with cf_…, tags, company, legal bases and funnel) | {type, created_at, data} | RD Station says the body cannot be customized. Postal's contact fields live in data. |
| No signature on the page we consulted | Standard Webhooks spec, HMAC-SHA256: webhook-id, webhook-timestamp and webhook-signature | The secret (whsec_…) belongs to each endpoint. See the signature verification. |
| Fires on every conversion: the same lead can arrive more than once. Imports and manual updates do not fire | contact.* events also fire on CSV import | If your system does not want to receive the whole base, ignore the import origin on the endpoint. |
| 3 retries, a 2xx response within 5 seconds | 8 attempts over about 27 hours, 2xx response within 15 seconds | All with the same webhook-id: use it to discard duplicates. Resend from the dashboard or via POST /webhooks/{id}/events/{event_id}/replay. |
| No unsubscribe event on the page we consulted | contact.updated with unsubscribed set to true | Use it to keep your records identical to Postal's. |
- The URL must be HTTPS and public, and you choose the events for each endpoint. Send a test event from the dashboard before switching over.
- Test addresses (
[email protected],[email protected]and others) generate real webhooks without using your quota. They depend on the plan. - Take the webhooks off RD Station only after switching all the traffic: whatever still comes in through there keeps generating calls.
Check what has no equivalent and switch your traffic
Switch one flow at a time, with RD Station still on. Start with test addresses and with yourself, compare deliveries and bounces in the first days and only then move the rest.
| In RD Station | What to do in Postal |
|---|---|
| Landing pages | No equivalent. Host it on another tool or on your site and send the signups to a Postal form. |
| Pop-ups and floating bars | No equivalent. Use a pop-up tool on your site, connected to the Postal form. |
| Lead Scoring | No equivalent. Use dynamic segments based on behavior and properties. |
| Funnel, opportunities and distribution to sales | No equivalent on the contact. Store the stage in a property and use a webhook or the RD Station CRM connection. |
| WhatsApp, SMS and smart message | No equivalent. Postal is an email platform. Stay with RD Station Conversas or another tool. |
| Social media: creating and scheduling posts, ads | No equivalent. Stay with the tool you use. |
| Integrations from RD Station's app store | No direct equivalent. See Postal's Integrations and use API, webhooks and CRM connections. |
| Conversion history, lead timeline and reports | They do not come over. Export whatever you want to keep before closing the account. |
| Emails made in the visual editor | Redo them in Postal's editor or paste the HTML you have. |
| Flow exit criteria | Use conditions and the exit step. |
Before you flip the key
- The domain is verified in Postal, and the RD Station records stay in DNS until the last email goes out through it.
- I imported as contacts only those who were active in RD Station.
- People who were unsubscribed came in as unsubscribed, and I did not import a spreadsheet with “no” in the Unsubscribed column on top of them.
- Bounce and spam addresses are on the suppression list, or came in as unsubscribed.
- I kept where each contact came from and when they signed up, so I can show the legal basis for sending.
- The option to trigger automations was left off during import, and the flows were reviewed before activating.
- Every email carries the unsubscribe link, and I tested mine on a real address.
- The new forms use double opt-in, the consent text is clear and the old code is gone from the pages.
- I decided where the landing pages, pop-ups, WhatsApp and SMS will live, if I used them.
- The API calls and webhooks were swapped, the signature is checked and a test event arrived.
- The first send goes to the most engaged segment, volume grows gradually, and bounces were checked in the first days.
- I kept the conversions export, the reports and the HTML of the emails before closing the account in RD Station.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to keep RD Station during the migration?
Yes, until you finish: export, import, swap the forms, redo the flows and see the last events arrive. Landing pages, pop-ups and forms keep capturing for RD Station as long as they are live. Export again close to the switch and import: contacts that already exist are updated by email. Also download the conversions, the reports and the HTML of the emails before closing the account.
Can I export the whole base through RD Station's API?
That is not the route. API 2.0 looks up one contact at a time and returns a segmentation's contacts with few fields, without the custom ones. For the complete base, use the CSV from the Lead Base.
Can I import those who are inactive in RD Station?
Those who unsubscribed, yes, marked as unsubscribed, so Postal remembers. Those made inactive by bounce, incorrect email or spam go to the suppression list. Those deactivated by hand or discarded are your decision, and without proof of consent the safe default is to leave them out.
I also use RD Station CRM. What happens to it?
RD Station CRM is a different product and stays as it is. Postal has a ready-made connection with it, by token: contacts and deals arrive as contacts, tags and properties, and email activity goes back to the CRM. What Postal does not do is mark opportunities or move deals.
Does RD Station have an SMTP I need to swap?
In the API documentation and help we consulted, we did not find an SMTP server or an API for sending one-off emails from RD Station Marketing: API 2.0 deals with contacts, events, segmentations, flows, webhooks and statistics. If your account uses some RD Station SMTP (confirm with its support), swap four fields: server, port, username and password. See the SMTP guide.
Can I keep the domain authenticated on both?
Yes. Postal uses the postal selector in DKIM and the postal subdomain in Return-Path and SPF. On the RD Station screen, check whether any name in your account is the same before publishing, and remember there can be only one DMARC record per domain.
