Audience and segments

All your contacts, organized.

Keep contacts with the data that matters, group them into segments that update themselves and let each person choose what they want to receive.

  • CSV import up to 20 MB
  • Segments that update themselves

How it works

One audience, four ways to organize

Contacts, segments, import and preferences, each in its place.

Dashboard

Everything on the Audience screen

Contacts, segments, tags, topics and properties, each in its own tab.

Contacts

Every contact with their own story

Besides name and email, keep what you know about the person in properties: city, plan, birthday. Mark with tags and use all of it to personalize and filter.

  • Properties for text, number, yes/no and date
  • Colored tags, created on the spot
  • Anyone who unsubscribes is recorded and no longer receives campaigns or automation emails
Segments

Segments that update themselves

A static segment is a list you build. A dynamic segment is defined by filters: whoever starts to match joins, whoever stops matching leaves, with no manual work.

  • Combine conditions in groups, with “all” or “any”
  • Filter by property, tag, topic, open, click and events from your system
  • See how many contacts match before you save

Topics and consent

The person chooses what to receive

Every campaign email carries an unsubscribe link. On the preferences page, the person opts out of everything or picks among your public topics, such as “News” and “Promotions”, without leaving the whole list.

  • Topics with default subscription: everyone receives until they leave, or only those who asked
  • Optional email confirmation (double opt-in) on forms
  • One-click unsubscribe right in the inbox: if the campaign belongs to a topic, the person leaves only that one

Import

Bring your list from a spreadsheet

Upload a CSV up to 20 MB and say which column is which. Existing contacts are updated by email, new ones are created, and anything with a problem is left out, with an explanation.

  • Comma, semicolon and files exported from Excel
  • Addresses on the suppression list don't become contacts
  • A template spreadsheet already comes with your property columns

Contacts in the API

From scattered spreadsheet to an organized audience

Without Postal

  • Contacts scattered across spreadsheets
  • Lists rebuilt by hand for every send
  • Someone who asked to leave can still show up on the next list

With Postal

  • Dynamic segments: whoever starts to match joins, whoever stops matching leaves
  • CSV import up to 20 MB, with mapped columns
  • Anyone who unsubscribes is recorded and no longer receives campaigns
  • The person chooses among your public topics, without leaving the whole list

Frequently asked questions

How many contacts can I have?

It depends on the plan. The contact and segment limits for each plan are on the pricing page.

What is the difference between a static and a dynamic segment?

In a static one, you add and remove contacts. In a dynamic one, the filters decide who is in, and the list updates when a contact changes. Dynamic segments depend on the plan.

Can I import an old list?

Yes, if the people asked to receive. Bring the unsubscribes column too. Lists that are bought, rented or scraped from the internet are not allowed by the Terms of Use.

Does an unsubscribed person start receiving again?

Only if they ask. Anyone who signs up again through a form, or through the preferences page, receives again.
